” Throughout the pages of this book, Olivier Robert takes you on a journey along the shores of twenty-eight lakes. It all begins on the shores of Lake Geneva, where the photographer has lived for over twenty years. Starting from 'his' lake, he takes you through various lake destinations, including France, Switzerland, England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Finland. The final destination is Japan, the homeland of his wife: Ashi, Daigoji, Kawaguchi, Notoro, Ogawara, Onuma, Shikina-en, Shikotsu, Suizenji, Towada, Toya, and finally Biwa. [...]


By showcasing Olivier Robert's work in this book and in an exhibition (November 19, 2015 - February 28, 2016), the Lake Geneva Museum continues one of its missions established when it was founded in 1954: to collect, study, and highlight the cultural and natural heritage of Lake Geneva. [...]


Beyond its announced heritage value, Olivier Robert's work has an added significance for the Lake Geneva Museum. With his journey along twenty-eight lakes, which invites us to compare the landscapes and the imprints of human societies on them, the photographer unconsciously perhaps, engages in a process akin to limnology.
