The 88-temple pilgrimage

Located on the island of Shikoku, the Henro Pilgrimage is probably the most famous pilgrimage dedicated to the Shingon Buddhism. I started this 1250 km journey in 2013 and completed it in 2019.

This exceptional route through mountains and forests across the island was a unique and personal connection with nature. It was also a fascinating 6-year discovery of an ancestral world of statues and temples.

This portfolio is a selection of representative prints among thousands of them. Some of these photographs have been taken by special permission. They have been made possible thanks to the understanding and kindness of the temples owners or monks.
