Japan - Lake Biwa Shore Sentinels

Two Decades with the Trees, A Visual Dialogue

For many years, I have walked the hidden shores of Lake Biwa, where wild trees rise as silent sentinels, unseen, uncelebrated, yet shaping the soul of the landscape. Born in water, scarred by storms and nurturing life in the wetlands, these trees weave a quiet dialogue with the lake. Their cycles of growth and renewal bear witness to nature’s enduring resilience.

Through my lens, I have listened to their stories, trying to capture not just images, but a visual conversation between earth, water, and time. These trees, far from the touristic gaze, have become my muses, teaching me to see beauty in stillness and strength in solitude.

These 20 selected photographs are my tribute to Lake Biwa’s guardians, a celebration of two decades in their company and an invitation to join the dialogue. As I look forward to the years to come, I am eager to deepen our conversations and continue learning from these timeless sentinels...
