West Lake, Shanghai and Guilin
A study of the classical Chinese landscapes.
West Lake (Xi Hu) is a living canvas, where light, reflection, and time converge in an endless dialogue. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its shores have cradled the dreams of poets and painters for over a thousand years. Each season rewrites its story in mist, bloom, and shadow.
To stand here with a camera is to step into an old tradition, where every composition feels like both a discovery and a homage to the generations of artists who sought to capture its fleeting magic. Located in Hangzhou, the former capital, West Lake has long been more than a landscape. The bond between the city and its lake is not merely geographic but artistic and spiritual. This relationship has shaped the city’s identity through dynasties.
